A dump truck makes construction work more efficient and saves a lot of labor costs. Especially the shorter wheelbase of a standard dump truck often makes it more maneuverable than the higher capacity semi-trailer dump trucks in short distance transfer. The application of a dump truck is beyond the construction field, often used as well in the field of the fishery, farm, sanitation, etc. The configuration of the dump body can be altered and designed to fulfill different purposes.
Special concrete transport trucks (in-transit mixers) are made to mix concrete and transport it to the construction site. They can be charged with dry materials and water, with the mixing occurring during transport. They can also be loaded from a "central mix" plant; with this process, the material has already been mixed prior to loading. The concrete mixing transport truck maintains the material's liquid state through agitation, or turning of the drum, until delivery.
